What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

My wife has today taken my car which was jointly owned. I am a diabetic and rely on car for doctor or hospital visits. Can I approach police in connection with this?

I stand to be corrected but I believe the registered keeper would have day to day responsibility for the car.

Many years ago my ex husband took my car whilst we were seperated but not then Divorced.I was named in the log book but that doesn''t mean ownership. The POlice said that as we were still married the car was jointly owned so there was nothing they could do to make him return it to me.He had his own car at the time and had only taken my car to make my life difficult. The Police did speak to him and he did return it but as the Police said if he hadn''t they couldn''t do anything about it.
It''s possible this position has changed but I doubt it.
