What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Do you need help sorting out a fair financial settlement?

Our consultant service offers expert advice and support to help you reach agreement on a fair financial settlement quickly, and for less than a quarter of the cost of using a traditional high street solicitor.

I do more than wonder: I am always aware that he may be in here and reading my posts. That's why (if anyone has noticed) I reveal so little about my own situation. I still get a lot of comfort from the site, though.

Agreed! I haven't posted anything on here that is not true. I have not posted anything I wouldn't care for him to see.

He seems to be wasting an aweful lot of money on Sols, for 'advice' that is readilly available on-line. I actually told him to use Forums (didn't specify this one!) Then he'd get a clue about how the system works.

F'rinstance: He gos to Sol, wants me 'gone'.

Sol listens to countless hours of his diatribe.. then when I learn I have matrimonial home Rights, he goes back to sol, stating I claim to have such rights...

His sol agrees that indeed, I do!

(So, he's just wasting money sitting in his sols office having a moan!)

He also thinks that because he's applying for divorce in January, it'll be granted next day. Erm. Not!

He's cancelled mediation; which is why I started the 'how long' thread, and I've told him not to expect a divorce before Jan 2010; with the way the system works.

So, if he got more clued up, we'd be in an easier position to divorce quickly.
