What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hi,
We are currently selling the house as part of divorce. My son wants his girlfriend to come and live in the house in the interim as she has just got a job nearby.

We have gone through FDR and reached a settlement that we are implementing.

I am in the house but my stbx is staying with friends.

Does my wife have the right to say no that his girlfriend cannot stay/ our son cannot have someone to stay over ?

Thanks for your help.

If it’s your home it’s up to you who stays in it.

How long has ex been moved out?

She is staying with her friends (for over 6 months now and not slept in the house during that time), the court decided 50/50 split of equity in the house. She still claims it as her primary residence.

If house is up for sale probably easier for you if she doesn’t move in.

Presumably your son is having to look for somewhere to live too? Better they look now than have to rush if you get a sale.
