What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Random question time. My ex is taken the children away in June. Both need new passports and he knows this. The children are 19 & 16. I know the 19 year old can technically buy his own one. However the 16 year old has only turned 16 and has no job at present to pay for this. Me and the ex do not talk so I have not been told about this from him. However I do not want to pay for them to be renewed, as I cant afford it. He has not asked me to renew them, nor has he done it, as he has not asked for the old ones to be sent back. I do not want the "kids" to miss out on the holiday. What should I do??????

Send the expiring passports with the children back to him. Obviously you then have the risk that if they are petty they wouldn't send them back to you if subsequently need to use them so it's whether you offer to cover half of the 16 year olds cost if you did plan using it at some point.

It might be worth telling kids to remind him passports have expired so that they can be applied for in plenty of time as June isn’t that far off now and lead times increase as summer approaches.
I don’t think you need the old passport to apply for a replacement anymore. I’m not British so it may be different for UK passports but last time myself or kids have replaced them it was all done online.
