What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

sorry but i posted this in the wrong place originally (stressed out at my situation)since my stbx left 14 months ago, she has had 3 jobs each job paying less than the previous one. her wage was £235 a week full time when she left now it is only £155 a week part time, is there some scam going on?? she only paid £28 a week CSA now that as been reduced to £19. she is not paying anything towards the debts and lives debt free with her new fellow. does that look better for me in a settlement or is she after a larger share?

Hello Soulman. Umm. I think she is deliberately trying to make herself look poor. Depends what she puts on her form E. Being in debt looks better for you if you earn more than her but beware that she try and get you to service any debt. It also depends if she ticks the 2 co habit box's on her form E. It would be great if you can get some proof of her co habiting. Is there no one that has visited her and can do a sworn statement that she is co habiting? Its always hard proving co habiting. This in part was my down fall that I couldn't prove it. Chris

she left to go and live with her new fellow and has always said she has no money, his house is debt free. she opened a bank account before she left now his name is on the account, she sold her car and bought another one in his name.
