What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

Hi , Find out who does it in your area & ring them to find out. My wifes solicitor arranged ours & I just recived a letter asking me to ring in to make an appointment. When I did so I found myself on the phone to them for a good 20 mins as they answered any questions I had. Its definatley the way to go & can save a fourtune in squabbling thro solicitors. OK sorting out the finances etc is never going to be 100% amnicable but they sure as hell help you to reach a good comprimise on both sides. They also have a good knack in shooting down any partners completly unreasonable claims !! Go for it.

Dobbs.
