...by Maggie O'Farrell - quite simply one of the most beautifully-written books I've ever read. It is the story of Alice, who steps off the pavement one day, and straight into a coma.
The early part of the book flits between first and third person view, and I wasn't sure if I could continue, but I am so glad I did. Such wonder prose and a memorable book that is quite tragic in parts.
I list all the books I read, and rate them out of 10, and this one got a 10!! I know, bit sad to do that, but the grey matter needs some help remembering these days!!!

I have read this book and it is a very moving sccount of finding your soulmate only to lose him in a most devastating way, the charaters are very human and written with real events and emotions. I was in tears by the end of the book, not a good thing in public place.
Not sure i would recomend for anyone who is newly seperated, it is far too sad.
But an excellent read

I'd not thought of that element, it is quite a few years since I've read it, but it had an impact on me. You're right, probably not the best if you're recently separated!
