Hi,pardon the terrible pun but here is a novel idea that was suggested to me.instead of reading my normal gritty crime stuff like Ian Rankin and Martina Cole why not take yourself away to a fantasy world-harry potter i haven''t read any of.lord of the rings, the hobbit are two of my all time favourites.my son has bought me ''game of thrones'' which i will probably start over the weekend.only it occurred to me that i see real-life crime every day.its on the news, its in the papers you cant get away from it.and its depressing!! Now im not saying i wont ever read another crime novel i do love them.its just my life is depressing enough at the moment without voluntarily immersing myself in murder, robbery, gangsters, adultery and scams.when i read this stuff just now i find myself comparing places and incidents in the book to places and incidents in my married life.reading complete fantasy gets me out of my own head.give it a try

I did something weird !!
Like most people I realised that I knew very little about my parents life. Now gone thier troubles and struggles are lost in history and there is nobody to really ask.
I started to put my life into words. Word processors make it easy to add bits in.
I only wrote things I could remember and not other things which other people told me had happened. I started with my first memories and ended with me at 21. The more I wrote the more I remembered !!
After 2 weeks I had written 34,000 words!!
Some things were just a single line. Some were half a page. I did miss out some of the x rated bits with girls that I didn''t think my daughter would really like to know !!
I was able to present her with the first 21 years of my life in a folder and from my point of view it really stretched my mind and brought back some funny and interesting experiences !!
