What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

My wife and her son are Kenyan nationals. My wife left last July 14th and I informed the Home Office. She is still working and living locally. The HO tell me that their visas are out on 8 March 2008.

I have not been petitioned. I have not been asked for any settlement. How much damage can she do between now and the 8th of March?

Should she leave the country, what is the likelihood of her pursuing the matter from Kenya?

How long is a piece of string.

I feel some relief in posting this but am not expecting anyone to have a crystal ball.

Thanks for listenting

It is possible to be petitioned from abroad, but if she's def..going back better for you to get it sorted asap.
