What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hello everyone, I''m back again
Feeling very sad tonight. I''m on holiday at the moment, just a few days down in Devon. I have one more day and then on Friday I will return home with my daughter.
The ex finally moved out while we have been away, and although we have not yet exchanged (long story) I am supposed to move on Monday.
Although we are now divorced this weekend will mark the true end for us.

I need to keep it together for my daughter, I have managed so far and I am sure I will manage it going forward, but all of this stiff upper lipping is giving me grey hair and wrinkles.

I feel old and tired and sad. Not miserable or angry, just so very very sad.

Love to all out there, hope you are all coping,

It''s ok to be sad and it is good that you recognize it. Take the time and be sad. There is plenty to be sad about!

You''ll get through it and in the end you''ll be more emotionally aware. Women are better at that stuff for sure :P.

Sad is normal. Embrace it, recognise ot as an essential part of healing and one day you''ll realise you don''t feel sad any more.

Lots of love. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I am sending you a big hug. I and many others know how you are feeling and wait in anticiaption for the day when we will feel ''normal'' again.

I am also feeling sad and lost of any direction. I think we just have to float along with these feelings and function as normally as we can. It is all part of the healing process.

I know we will become free and happy but just not today.

Indeed Furball - to not be sad would be quite mad. As was said before it is part of the healing - but it still feels like shit.

I feel old and tired and sad.

Me too - although I can do angry, bitter and twisted too!

Big hugs furball.
