What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Do all men turn so nasty and cruel after being married to us for years. My x is doing everything in his power to make me miserable and leave me with nothing. he is earning £50,0000 a year, and has not helped me at all after he left. he left me with 3 boys and knew i earned a low income. He has reduced his hours at work to reduce his salary and built up his debts. We are at FH next weel and i,m scared i,ll be left homeless and skint.

Ummm... from my experience married 20 years brought a huge amount of money into marriage where as he he brought only debts...

You need to take a step back and look at this from his side (and whatever legal advice he has been given, which will be to minimize his earnings over value anything he thinks you will accept such as marital home so please get your own independent valuations and wack up his expenses.

Yes you feel scared ( I literally could not open my mail and found out the benefits system was so fragmented I still have been unable to apply for income support two years on)

One thing I do know is that if you only try and do one thing a day you will get there, small steps and rant on here someone on here bas been been there done that and bought the T shirt.
