I will be moving into my new flat within the next two weeks and need some ideas.

The kitchen, living room and dining room is open plan. The dining area is next to a bay window with bright red walls. The living room area is cream or white (too dirty to tell which!) and the kitchen is the standard black granite with pine units. I want to paint the living room area but not white or cream. Any ideas on which colours would give a good contrast with the dining area? I''ll add a photo on Tuesday if it helps.

Hi

Thanks for the suggestion. I''ve picked up these testers :

misty mountain : www.colorhexa.com/b8b4ad
natural wicker : www.colorhexa.com/e8dfcb
perfectly taupe : www.colorhexa.com/c7c0bc

Taupe is kind of a light greyish brown. I couldn''t find a light shade of grey.

What colour lino do you suggest for a bathroom with yellow walls, would a black or grey work?

I like the natural wicker, it''s light and fresh and calming :)It would work well with the red walls in your kitchen area. You could also add accent colours like jade or chocolate in soft furnishings.

Black with the yellow in your bathroom might be a bit stark, what sort of shade is the yellow?

I think it''s called sunflower :

It''s got a satin finish. I want to avoid lino that looks like wooden flooring as I think it''s tacky.

I can''t really tell what sort of colour that is. A light brown? I''m colour blind so certain colours and shades all look the same!
