I have applied for the Decree Nisi on the 28th of July at Bury St Edmunds.. am surprised why it takes 8 weeks to make a decision considering they are only prioritising nisi and absolutes..maybe they are understaffed ...but the wait is frustrating..
The divorce and finances are separate.
The finances can be sorted out away from court, you don't need to have any hearings, just a Consent Order that is submitted for court approval.
Granting the Decree Nisi is a paper exercise unless there is a specific need for a hearing e.g. if Unreasonable Behaviour grounds are contested.
If you are going through the process it is really important that you understand the various stages. There is lots of useful information on the site, you can ask as many questions as you need and if you require further support you csn access our other services via the helpline.
