What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

I spoke to someone yesterday - they were amazing. Helped me to set some issues in relative scale and thereby push some to one side for now, which is just as important.

Part of our discussion included 'so what did you talk about with your solicitor'. I guess the solicitor has a reasonable picture. I think he asked most of the questions to set the scene and I did most of the talking to provide the answers. Unfortunately that meant I didn't come away much enlightened and with a few quite key questions I was starting to worry which isn't healthy.

As a result of your help yesterday, my head is back above water.

That about covers it except for my thanks.

Thank YOU!
