What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Well my Decree Absolute dropped through the letterbox this morning.
I had asked for it to be stayed until finances sorted but I got a letter from the court dated 19th March stating the judge didn''t believe there was a problem and that I would have to make an application to court to put my case forward.
But they granted the absolute on the same day anyway??? (19th)
Guess I don''t have a choice.....

So you ask the judge stays the Absolute, the judge rights back and asks you make an on notice application, but send the Absolute back at the same time.

Have i been transported to Mars? the courts seem to be bonkers of late.

Could you forward copies of the whole lot back, asking why you were told to put your case forward but then it was granted anyway?

I just rang the court and asked what had happened.
I was told that when ex applied for Absolute there was nothing in place to stop him, as I had not made an application.

?????????????????????????????????????????????
