What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

my marriage has been an on again /off again affair, we originally were married for 8 weeks before we split, we stayed apart for 12 months , i found another gf and she applied for divorce , then i felt sad so i asked if we could try again, the trouble in this relationship is that we never stayed together for more than 2 weeks, this went on and on finally i realised better to stay with gf and divorce as it just was,nt working, i waited 12 months and applied for divorce, then i get an email that other party does not want a divorce and that her being a counsellor we have cohabited for total of more than 3 months so i must wait 2 more months . it is so mesy , even lawyer has not enough room to write down all the dates, other party claims for 3 months in 1 stint , but i know full well , she left on 5 or 6 occasions for 3 or 4 days at a time, we were in my rented house , her clothes were in her car boot , she would not take out, all the furniture was mine , how can i appeal this, i am not trying to say we were,nt together , only the dates, , regards Tim
