What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

I just wanted to know a few more things about spousal support.
I have a friend who has moved out of home leaving his wife with everything (he doesn''t want anything), his two children live with her (18 & 21 both working Full Time) she also works Full time.
Will he have to pay spousal support? I don''t really understand the grounds that this works on and just wanted to know how this comes about etc.

Hope you can help

It will depend on many things eg. respective incomes and outgoings, lifestyle prior to separation and the asset division overall. It is impossible say without knowing more detail.

Hi. Have a look on the forum at FINANCIAL, Then click on Maintenance. There is a lot of advice there. It all depends on individual cases. I hope you find some help on there.
