What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

what can i do?? He appeared to have a lawyer when we first seperated as I have received one letter from them back in January 2012.

Since then, my lawyer has sent 3 letters and he appears to be ignoring them all.

He was someone who liked to take control of everything, still tries to by sending me long emails with his demands, which I promptly send onto my lawyer for their action.

Hope someone can advise me.
Thanks

Im in the same position stbx was the one who wanted divorce back in August 2010 and now he is ignoring letters from my solicitor. Just received first bill from solicitor for £963.00 and still no further on.

Solicitor did say maybe we will have to send a writ through the courts but I dont want to incur any additional costs so stuck at the moment.

Mine has done the same...it''s been going on 18 months now and now ignoring court orders. He thinks he will break me down so I will accept his pathetic offer after 21+ years.
I am down....I don''t know how I will survive until Final Hearing but I will hang on. I know what his game is and he isn''t going to beat me :)

I had the same problem my stbx filed for the divorce then when it came for him to apply for the decree nisa he just halted, this went on for a year in the end I paid £45 to dismiss the proceedings, then filed for my own divorce,my stbx ignored all the paperwork my solicitor and courts sent him,he too was a control person,so I hired a process server which cost me £100 worth every penny, cos papers were served on him,he ignored them papers too,I had to wait 30 days for my solicitor to be able to apply for the Decree Nisi with the prove of the process server that he had received the papers,my nisi date is 17th May,I wasnt going to let him have all the control so yes there is a light at the end of the tunnel so my advise is pay for a process server

my stbx also ignored letters, he also ignored paperwork from the courts, i asked my solicitor to write to him and say that if he continues to ignore all correspondencs we will ask for my costs to be paid by him. Suddenly he responded by saying he never recieved any paper work !! we know he did as i saw paperwork in his home when i collected myson after contact, happily now all paperwork has been recieved by the courts and now im waiting for my decree Nisi, he will however incur all my costs!!!
