What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hi.. I''m sorry about ur circumstances, sounds like a bit of a nightmare having so much to deal with, when I m sure you just want to get on with your life.

I can''t help mediation questions . But I had problems re contact re my 12 years old. In the end I have let my child make decisions to a point as it is his life after all. He chose alternate weekends and couple of hours on 1 weekday(not overnight) as was to disruptive re school during week.

I suppose it depends on how well child can cope being moved x nites a week. Best wishes anyway, I hope you get sorted.

Can''t offer any specific advice, but I can really relate to what you are going through. My stbx has behaved similarly. We moved out under threats with only a few bits of furniture and paying an enormous rent. He then started snatching the kids from school and on the street because he thought that the contact I offered was not enough. Endless disputes about CSA and numbers of nights despite getting an interim order. My kids said they wanted to spend half the week with him, but they were scared of him and wanted the conflict to end. Now we are in the middle of an extended court hearing and although he is clever, his madness is beginning to show through (rants and raves at me and wild accusations). Just keep going. You won''t lose your kids, you may end up with a better deal than you expect because you are the one who is doing the right thing by them.
