What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Is it worth getting legal aid if you know that your going to start working furring the divorce and going to earn at least £180 a day? Currently have £1000 savings that''s all.

If you can obtain public funding for any length of time this will allow you obtain legal advice at a knock down rate. Once you start your job you need to declare this as you will be reassessed and funding will cease if you are no longer eligible.

The process for applying for funding is lengthy therefore you may not receiving funding prior to starting your job in which case it will be cancelled straight away - assuming it has got as far as being granted.
