What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Sorry, what do you mean the order would be set aside?

What are the massive costs of transferring property?

Thanks

So is the real issue here that your new, pregnant, wife does not want your children from your first marriage to stay overnight with you??

Erm. When did this issue arise?? She knew you had kids when you met.

A marriage where the threat of divorce is being used as a control mechanism is not a healthy one. Is there some reason why she should be feeling insecure??

You have a legal and moral duty to provide for your children, including your unborn child. Divorce settlements are not calculated on the basis of what you would like to leave to your children as an inheritance but on the present and future needs of the children and both husband and wife. I really cannot imagine what your wife is going through, particularly in her condition, if she is aware of you attempting to hide assets in this way. She must be very fearful for her future financial security. I think you need to decide if you really do want the marriage to be salvaged. If not, then do some research on how assets are split in a fair and honest way.

Reading this what I am picking up is a lot of ''I''- ''I want'', ''I am happy''.

Was there a ''we'' at any time - agreeing with a previous post, suspect that control is the overall issue here.

Sounds like mystbx as long as he was happy we all had tobe, there was never anydiscussion if he wanted anything it was ok anbd if anyone else had an opinion they were looked upon as if they were speaking a foreign language.

I once bought him a tee shirt with " I,I,I me,me,me,self ,self self" on it but he didn''t get it he is so thick skinned.
