What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

I married my wife 5 years ago and we have just seperated, we both had our own homes when we met, I lived 200 miles from her, I moved in with her and my house is rented out.
I have spent a lot of money on her house and I mean a lot, I bought her a car and a motorcycle. I have a decent job and so does she.
I am now in a rented home because I cannot move back to where I came from because of my work.
Her house is in her sole name and mine is in my sole name.
I think this is going to get messy anyone any idea how bad this could get.
We both also have decent pensions.

When you have a short and childless marriage like you have it''s usual for you both to leave the marriage with what you both brought to it.

So you keep your own stuff and share any debt or profit from the time you were together. There seems no reason to deviate from the detail you have given.
