What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

thankyou

Hi all,

I tried to leave feedback in the feedack section but it wont let me. So I will put it here in the hope that someone can put it in the right place for me.

I am two years down the line of divorce and can honestly say that if it wasnt for this place and all the wonderful volunteers then I wouldnt have got through it the way I did.

Stbx has a medical condition that hinders him looking after our child who also has a medical life-threatening condition. As this was quite a complex case the Solicitors found themselves floundering at times and that is where Wiki came in. The helpline is second to none and I often got better and more detailed advice from them than my own legal team.

I am on legal aid whilst stbx pays privately and I dont know what will happen when legal aid is phased out as I would not be able to represent myself - that is why I feel that Wiki will be a life-line for those people who are left to their own devices without a lot of legal knowledge.

I do hope Wiki goes from strength to strength and that the people who run it are recognised for the invaluable voluntary services and advice they provide.

Keep up the good work - you really are a life-line to many thousands of people and their children.

Hi Epitome title/Perin 123,

Yes - I had written a huge essay too! I did it a couple of weeks ago and wasnt going to bother again - but decided that I would try it this section instead. Maybe the powers that be could sort out the feedback section as it might get lost here which would be a shame. Why dont you add yours here - I would be interested to read both your experiences too.

epitome and perrin - both your essays are there on display in the feedback section.

Carer- if you can just add your star ratings for the three questions below i will add your feedback:

1) how useful was the site
2) level of support abd advice
3) would you recommend wikivorce

We just need to know your scores for these 3 Qs

Regards

Ian

Hi Ian,

I am not sure what the top score is but it is the highest for all three questions.
