All that arguing over real pension values and in the end they keep their own, which would have made sense three years ago! oh well its over and that is all that really matters i suppose, tell your bloke wiki is happy for you both
What is in the Consent Order is near enough exactly what the ex agreed to 3 years ago!!
My partner has never waived from the orginal agreement. In fact he offered to pay her £9k to even out the pension difference. Unfortunately someone told the ex she was entitled to more.
The issue has been that her Final salary CETV was £33k and my partners money purchase scheme CETV was £67k. So on paper it looked like a £34k difference.
However thanks to Wiki and Ian Colon in particular we were able to demonstrate that the pensions in fact were worth the same. (Although in all likelihood her is actually worth more than my partners.) Even the solicitor was impressed with our figures.
At one point she actually asked my partner when he was going to write her a cheque for £17k so she must be very disappointed with £1k my partner has agreed to pay for a Clean Break.
With wiki''s help my partner knew that the assets split had been more than fair, that the children''s needs had been meet and so he just kind of sat back and said NO to her ridiculous demands.
She huff and puffed about going to court but we think her solicitor was telling her, she wouldnt get any more that way and in fact she might have ended up having to give my partner a share of her pension.
Crackers isn''t it, given their age and the size of those pensions they just were not worth arguing over, still whats done is done, time to drink the bubbles and try and forget the whole sorry episode, i suppose if nothing else you know lots about pensions now, i`m trying to look for the bright side.
