What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hi everyone, My husband removed all paperwork from the house we were renting when he left and so I now need to try and find out the exact date of the sale of our house (which happened about 7 years ago approx)for completing detail in form E.
Does anyone know a way I can do this? i don''t know where to start.
Many thanks for any help.

Is the exact date really critical or will an approximation do ?

Hi LMM I''m not sure my solicitor has suggested it is necessary for form E. Even an approximation is difficult (i.e. month / year) for me to remember. I have moved house (rented) with my stbx over 5 times since which I think is making me confused. Wish my brain would work better at times like this !!!
:-(

If you''ve moved 5 times since then I very much doubt it actually matters, even to the exact month. Just guess. You have to complete the form "to the best of your knowledge".
