What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

My stbx has accepted my divorce petition but on it she claims she does not work, I think this is because she wants legal aid.

She is lying. What should I do to report this?

I have sent a letter to her solicitors requesting that they have a conversation with her about her income and a business she owned and sold 2 years ago. Either her solicitor has not been told the truth or they are aware of her income yet still have on her behalf responded to the court that their client does not work.

What should I do now? If I feel her solicitor are aware of this, who do I go to to report this?

Hi, it is difficult to comment without knowing all the details. But you say she owned and a business and sold it 2 years ago... could all of the funds have been depleted? Is she now working somewhere else?

She works as a freelance hairdresser, has never declared her income, and never contributed to the bills related to our home.

She frequently buys herself clothes, shoes, perfume etc, and goes out regularly.

Her secretive income formed part of my divorce Petition, and it seems she has no intention to be honest about her income and savings.
