What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

cookie2, thank you for the advice. I have found out my stbx will be away for 10 days starting today. This gives us a week at home without him.
And I have managed to find a room to rent afterwards, if needed.

One more question please.

After returning home (my stbx is away on holiday to meet his ex wife) I have discovered skype messages where he admits he wants to ''change everything and start all over again with his ex wife'' etc.

Now do I include this as a fact in my petition? Or is this too trivial and I have enough as it is?
Thank you.

No, there is no point. It will just add complication (ie. why are you looking at his private stuff).

cookie2, thank you.
I thought so. Good to have confirmation.

(actually it is my skype account, but as he has never had one, he used mine, so it became our family''s)
