What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

After years of violence from my ex husband and various affairs with transsexuals and prostitutes I left my husband and took our 2 young children.
I do not get legal aid as I work full time and earn too much (have no oney left at the end though)
My ex started to divorce me for my UB which is fine, I do not agree with his reasons but cannot afford to fight it.
Nothing has been done since March as he has decided he can''t afford it now (me having a new partner might have soemthing to do with it too)
My question is, is there anything I can do to start it again and push it along or is he in the driving seat??

Yes, you can apply to dismiss his Petition through lack of action. Normally you would wait for 6 months after he last did anything. So you might have to wait a little while yet. but you won''t be in limbo forever!
