What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Am just starting to complete my form E and have a question please which doesn''t appear to be covered in the guide. In my divorce I am the respondent but I have issued financial proceedings where I am the applicant....on the front page of the Form E am I therefore the applicant now rather than the respondent?

Thanks

i would go with the applicant if you are the one instigating the financial proceedings

Thank you, that''s what I thought but it worried me that as I''m the respondent in the divorce I''d be the respondent in all documents - just needed clarification, thanks again.

Thx, yes Im reading them now. Im downloading all forms needed for the Petioner (his) and mine as the Respondant, and their corresponding notes, I dont have to but I want to be fully aware and informed, gets quite confusing.
