What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Sorry folks but I have to let off steam and rant somewhere.

Every year since my son has been in school there are 6 weeks holiday in the summer, fairly general arrangement in uk, doesnt come as a surprise to most parents.

This year have arranged several special outings (and given plenty of notice of dates to stbx (3 to 4 months) in advance so as not to cause any problems). Outings of this kind are something I would never have done when stbx was involved as the high drama stbx had to enact over even the easiest of arrangements overshadowed any enjoyment from it and was more than I could cope with.

One of this holiday''s outings is coming up on Friday. Stbx has now told son how unhappy he is that I - me - his nearly ex - has not bought him a ticket so that he can come along............ and guess what, son now upset and telling me that I dont care.

Ummmm, no I dont care about stbx who has tried my patience too far in last few months, but I do about my son who has the shine taken from his special day out. Spitting with rage.

And for the record, what has stbx done with son during the whole 6 weeks of holidays - that comes round every year, ususally between July and August so is not a surprise if you want to make arrangements - promised to take him out and then let him down.

Sorry, just had to get this all out of system some way ......... will go and fume quietly now
