What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

My wife obviously wants me out. After seeking advice here I have decided I am definately not leaving my home and two kids however uncomfortable she makes me feel.
Well we had a visit from a social worker yesterday. It appears my wife has gone down the bogus domestic violence route! claiming I am abusive to her and the kids. If I speak above a whisper she tells me I am shouting and threatens to call the police almost daily!
I think she has a serious mental problem where she actually believes the lies she makes up. She is very convincing.
Advice please.

First of all, stay calm. Hard I know. Going through similar myself.

Write it all down. Preferably with dates and times.

Try not to get into confrontations. If it looks like becoming on, walk away.

Get a solicitor. Really do that now!

Take care of yourself too

Your wife seems very similar to mine mate. It must be hell at home but she is getting advice from somewhere/someone to do what she is doing...

Keep your nose totally clean, whatever the provocation: do not give her any excuse to get the police involved as they will invariably take her word over yours...

Like Stumpy has said you need to get moving to protect your interests as your situation is NOT going to get any better: your wife has already shown what she is capable of...

good luck!
