What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Its very strange situation where innocent have to prove.
got Decree Nisi and frustrated ex went to india and filed a police complain that i am already married with some one in UK. she knows that indian police is currupt and they are not going to investigate anything and simply prove that she is right.

i want to have some official document showing that i am not married in uk with any one.

please can you suggest what shoudl i do?

Rather than prove you are not married, doesn''t she have to prove you are married?

Wouldn''t she have to allege a date and place and time you got married and name a person?

These details will corroborate her claims and as you are not married can not be evidenced.

If they are just taking her word without any evidence, surely they will do the same for you and a simple ''Nope, I''m not married'' will suffice?

I don''t really want to sound flippant, but if they accept a photo of you with a girl as proof you''re married, what are they expecting to prove you''re not?

A photo of you on your own?

What are they expecting you to provide?

What jurisdiction do they have in the UK?

I would have thought to meet the standards of the UK courts there would need to be documentary evidence of a legal marriage.
