What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

The chronology is list of significant events in order, so

Jan 81 Respondent husband born
Jan 82 Applicant wife born
March 02 Respondent met applicant
July 03 Married
Mar 04 first child born
June 06 second child born
... date of petition
... date of nisi
... Form A issued
..... Respondent’s form E Filed
... Petitioner’s form E Filed
... Respondents Questionnaire filed
... First Appointment

You can put children''s names in.

Yes the chronology is a summary of significant dates so the judge doesn''t need to trawl through other documents to find them.
