What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hi guys, I received a letter from my solicitor on 29th September saying that my STBX would have now been served with the divorce petition.

I was just wondering if there is a timescale for the return of the Acknowledgement of Service.

I am not really sure of the exact process for this, does it get returned to court or my solicitor etc?

Also, do I get a notification when (and if :S) STBX returns this document?

Thanks in advance

He has 7 days to return the form and it must be returned to court not your solicitor but yes court will let your solicitor know once he has returned it then your solicitor will move on to the next applications to progress the divorce.

You could try calling the court and asking if they have it yet, the problem is many courts will ask if you have a solicitor and if you have they say well ask your solicitor, if your super nice they may tell you anyway.

My stbx sols letter states that they filed the Petition to Court on 3rd Sept.
To date I Respondant have not received anything from Court.

Who do I contact, his sols or court or wait a little longer.
(I want to file for MPS)

Thanks for your replies. I am extremely eager to get this man out of my life and move on.

I may try and ring the court later today and hopefully they will be able to give me some good news.

amefbi - have you tried chasing it up with your solicitor?
