What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hi, I live overseas and am getting married again this year.
I''ve been told that I need to get my Decree Absolute "certified" by the court judge so I can go ahead and get it legalized.
To do this, I have to complete a D180 form but there are no notes or guidelines attached with the form and some sections are completely unclear to me.

In particular, section 5 - Judgement.
I''m not clear if this is the date the request was made. Or the date the Absolute was granted.

Also question 5.4, was the judgment given in default of appearance?

Soooo confusing! Any help would be much appreciated. :(

I am having the same problem. I see that you did not get a response on here but did you get the forms completed?
I feel for you as like me you don''t want to complete the form incorrectly and have it returned as such. I think the judgment is for the Decree Absolute. I have documents that state it was granted on a date. And I think the question about was the judgment given in default of appearance is yes....I was not able to attend and was told it was not necessary to attend.
If you have any assistance to give please let me know. If I receive any I will let you know

Hello! I finally completed the form after speaking to a helpful person at the court.
For question 5.4, I was told to put "no" as I was not required or asked to attend.
Question 5, Judgement - this is the date that the Absolute was granted.
Hope this helps - I submitted mine 3 weeks ago and am still waiting to receive it back. I was told it can take up to 4 weeks to get the signature!!
Good luck.

That was so helpful! Though, I have got one more question. I am a Polish National who lives in the UK. I got married in Poland but got divorced in the UK. I struggle with Question NO 1 on D180.

Question no 1: Member State of Origin

Is it 'UK' as I live in the UK or is it 'Poland' as I am a Polish National?
Your help would be so much appreciated.

Hello!
The D180 is to reflect the Decree Absolute from the UK so that it can be used in EU countries. Therefore Member State of Origin would be the UK.
Good luck! :)

Just read all the comments on here. This is quite useful. I have only just printed off the form but it does not say how to send or if there is a fee. Can you help?
Thanks.
