What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Good morning,

Please advise; do I tick one or multiple boxes in section 5.1 (page 8). Its that three out of the six reason applies?
I live in the UK for over 8 years, ditto for my partner but he moved abroad 4 months ago.

Also, for section 10.1, I have not spoken yet with my partner about how to split our financial assets. So do I fill in Yes, I want to apply for a financial order, to be on the safe side? This as when I answer No, I can't apply again until I remarry or form another civil partnership.

Last but not least 11.2. My husband wants the divorce (I will become the Petitioner) therefore I find it reasonable that he pays for the application cost. What I like to know though is, if this is delaying the divorce application process or if additional cost are involved? Alternatively I can pay from the joined account.

Thank you,
