What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Can anyone advise me on what to do. I am self repping. I am going through divorce with my wife. She started the divorce thinking that I have some money stacked up somewhere, so that she could run away with her boyfriend. She found out that I am poor like a church rat. She wanted to claim for alimony and noticed that she will not get anything, because she is earning more money than I do. Her solicitor do not respond to any of my letters or questions. We have attended the first appointment hearing last month and the court gave an order that we jointly instruct estates agents to value the property home, and exchange questionnaires before 12/12/2020. I have sent mine to them and to the court, however, they have refused to send theirs. What can I do now.

It may be that they don't have any questions.

If a solicitor is not responding it could be either that they are no longer instructed or that they have not been paid.

It is worth writing to enquire wherher they are still instructed.

Many thanks hadenoughnow

The solicitors are still instructed. The solicitors later replied after the date the court ordered that we should instruct the estates agent to value the family property has expired, asking me to draft a letter to the estates agent. Which I have not given them a reply. Again the court ordered that we should exchange reply to our questionnaires and copies sent to the court by 4 p.m on 14/12/2020, however, I have sent mine to them and they have not sent theirs to me till date. Please what should I do? We are meant to serve each other evidence of our mortgage raising capacity by 04/01/2021 and I have not received anything from them.
