What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hi all,
So my girlfriends first appointment is next week. She has no representation, and is facing a gentlemen who I can not describe without probably getting banned from the forum. As a none legal person am I allowed to be there? It is a telephone conference thing as opposed to in the court room. I have asked the court but that question was completely ignored by them.

Thanks in advance

With the notice of first appointment there should be guidance about the phone appo
intment protocol. I am pretty sure the one my boyfriend got said no one else could be in the room.

It's possible to ask if another person could attend but it's also unlikely that both the court and the other side would agree.

As said above, the hearing notice will give guidance but the general rule is that you have to confirm that nobody else is present or face contempt of court.

Thanks for the replies so far guys. if the phone appointment protocol came with the original FDA paperwork with the dates on it it hasn't been received. When would we expect to receive it?
