What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hi I'm new here and looking to get a divorce after over 3yrs of separation.

The only finances left to sort in the divorce are the house and pensions, are these valued from the date of separation or the date the forms are submitted to court?
We are both in agreement to the arrangement of finances, we have 2 adult children who have both chosen to live with me since separation, is this taken into account even though they are adults?

Thanks in advance for any help I can get.

It’s today’s values that are needed.

You won’t be able to claim that to need more of the pot because you have chosen to house adult children but it sounds like you have reached an agreement already anyway.
