What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hello I’m trying to navigate this process on my own and having difficulty finding out about timescales. My divorce petition was sent out at beginning of may and no response received. A process server issued a copy to the stbx today, is it too soon to send off a copy of d11 for deemed service with a copy of the proof of service, can I send to the court straight away or wait and see if they now acknowledge service to the court? Thank you for any guidance

Sorry for the delay in receiving a reply.

You will need to wait 3 weeks after the date of successful service before being able to apply for deemed service if the respondent doesn't respond.

Thank you very much for your help! I have now also been process served papers despite only receiving the papers in the post six days ago. I have no idea how to respond as my papers were served first and it is a separate petition (not cross petition) would anyone know how I should respond (I want my petition to go through due to the costs) thank you
