What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Does anyone know if there is a time-frame in which I would have to wait before using a process server?

The petition was served on 29 March 2022 and I know the respondent will go out of his way to delay this as much as possible. It has already been 7 working days but when I called the divorce line I was told the 7 days is a "blanket statement" and there is nothing more I can do until 30 days!!

I assume after the process server I would have to wait x amount of days before applying to court for "deemed service"?

Thank you in advance for any comments.
