What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Do you need help sorting out a fair financial settlement?

Our consultant service offers expert advice and support to help you reach agreement on a fair financial settlement quickly, and for less than a quarter of the cost of using a traditional high street solicitor.

Social media, such as internet forums, open the door to a wealth of knowledge which we could never have accessed at our local libraries. Wikivorce is testimony to that. How about social media telling you something you never realised you needed to know, though? I''ve just posted a blog to try and make this a reality. Most of you will never need to know it, but for those of you who will, quite literally it could save your life.

Indeed I am. Many thanks for passing it on. I wonder how many the blog itself can reach? Oh, and if anyone wants to donate, I''d be enormously grateful - the link is in the blog.

Jonathan that is fantastic (sort of). My eldest son is a servivor of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia which is a very agressive type of bone cancer of which people born with Downs syndrome (as my son is) are especially suseptible to (unbeknowns to me at the time he became seriously ill).

Illness touches us in ways that you cannot describe unless it touches you. It changes your life, your perception of things and the way you wish the future to be.

Difficult but now I see why you are one of the family lawyers who spend time here on this site dedicating your time for the benefit of the general public and the law.

Many thanks, white rose. The more the word spreads, the more chance it will reach someone who needs to know.
