To acknowledge, appreciate and celebrate our members, we now have the feature: ''Wiki of the Week''
This week''s Wiki of the Week is .Charles.
Thanks .Charles for all you do for Wikivorce
• Can you please describe, briefly, how long you’ve been at Wiki and why you joined?
I joined wikivorce 5 ½ years ago after stumbling upon a post berating solicitors. Working with solicitors who sacrifice a lot to do the best for their clients I felt compelled to respond. After that I just made myself at home.
• What’s your top tip for surviving divorce?
Focus on what you can gain in the future – not what you have lost in the past.
• Do you have experience in or specialise in any particular area of Family law?
I am a law costs draftsman which brings me into contact with most areas of law. I have worked on the periphery of family law for over 20 years and work closely with family lawyers to ensure clients receive the service that they deserve.
• Do you have any short humorous stories, about yourself, you wouldn’t mind sharing? (this doesn’t have to be linked to separation or divorce)
I was responsible for my best friend on his 18th birthday but I inadvertently lost him whilst I was at a bar. It transpired that he decided to take a nap in the gutter and was removed by the police to sleep off the effects of alcohol in a central Birmingham police cell. I felt some guilt as his mother telephoned me the following day to question me upon my role in the matter. I made excuses and received no blame. However, I did manage to apologise to his mother whilst performing the best man’s speech on my friend’s weddings day - some 22 years later. It is never too late to apologise.
• What do you do to unwind/relax?
I cook to relax. I prefer savoury but am more accomplished at desserts for some reason. It works well with my mother who makes salads for my barbeques and I make desserts for hers as she loathes making desserts!
