What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

My daughter is considering moving in with her boyfriend. She has a few questions I don''t know the answer to.
Would anyone mind clearing them up for me?
Boyfriend owns his property and has done for a while. She wants to know the fairest way to split the bills.
Should she pay towards the mortgage or just the bills as she would have no claim on the property nor would she want any as he has owned it for a while.
She is hoping eventually that they will buy together but in the meantime which is the best way to approach this?

Thanks for any advise.
