You know, I don''t really care if the original post is a wind-up or not, because the responses demonstrate that Wiki members are full of information on a wide range of diverse topics. Not long after I joined I had a lot of problems with the antiquated plumbing system in my then house - a Wiki member who was also a plumber helped me solve the issues (and saved me a small fortune in call-out fees!).

If DavidDublin does come back, I hope the responses help him :)

True Ruby,I know that Stuka and Tein were a great source of advice regarding the house in my early days...

The power of wiki knows no bounds:) and hopefully Dave will let us know if he has solved his problem

A very random post indeed, what can I say I’m a very random person, definitely beats the squirrels in the attic ;)

Thank you for the welcomes! Great to be hear and you guys are pretty informative and super nice!

I even looked for a long little spy vacuum, you know the ones they use on spy movies? But soon found out that I might as well buy a new cooker for that price.

Great suggestion! I could by bigger sauce pans, which I think would help with spillage and if I could be more careful then it could be a solution.

Cardboard would work with blue-tac, but my other half would not approve and since I am a team-player I can’t ignore her, despite wanting to lol. Maybe she would be more accepting of wood? Hmmmm..

I’m unsure of what free-cycle means, I’ve not familiar with this term?

I like Charles suggestion of Smith’s Silicone Gap Covers

www.amazon.co.uk/Smiths-Silicone-Counter..._=pe_747761_41840231

They look neat and I think they are the front runner at the moment.

Yup, it’s a huge gap, I’ve tried moving the cooker, but then one side is bigger than the other lol.

Glad I brightened up your day Afon!

I totally agree Ruby, you guys are full of great informative responses and don’t worry this is not a wind-up :)

PS. I tried to reply to fit everyone who was kind enough to reply in the above post.

Now this suggestion might be crazy !! Aesthetics aside have you any bits of insulating foam . The type you put around pipes to stop it freezing. Stuff those in the gap and they are cheap enough to replace !!

I like it but I don''t think it would be aesthetically pleasing for the other half :(

Disguise it with something shiny and nice to look at? (not tin foil). :silly:

The silicone thingys sound like the best solution.

I don''t know how permanent/"integral", or budget your kitchen is....
And I started typing this as a joke, but...

How about:-
If you are right-handed, move cooker as far to the right as you can. You could then either ignore your dribbles, or block the gap with something like that stick-on draught excluder strip.
That will give you a gap of c95mm on the other side.
I reckon (if you''re handy) that''s maybe enough for a vertical-stack-type wine rack.
I always seem to have a few redundant old shelves lying around the house
That''s probably more of a project than you wanted!!

& yes, those gap covers do look smart. I''m surprised you can get them that wide.
