What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Do you need help sorting out a fair financial settlement?

Our consultant service offers expert advice and support to help you reach agreement on a fair financial settlement quickly, and for less than a quarter of the cost of using a traditional high street solicitor.

Car`s just failed its MOT. Will cost £300 for the tiniest bit of welding, stbx would have done it in half hour at almost no cost. Point being, it is going to cost me 3x as much to do anything.
50/50 split, yeh right.
Sorry just ranting, seems like a never ending story.
:woohoo:

Lots of colleges offer evening classes in car maintenance and other useful and practical skills - perhaps you could add another string to your bow and learn welding and car-fixing things so you don''t have to pay for expensive repairs, but can instead mend these things yourself at a fraction of the cost? (Plus it''s a great way to meet new people :))

Very good plan, problem with that is presumably you then have to equip yourself with all the necessary tools. I did at least, following a tip on here, make myself a DIY tool box before he took everything, which has come in handy on several occasions.

well car passed its mot, interestingly I left the receipt for the welding in it. The mot garage saw it and said he was appalled. It cost £169.80, he said it shouldn''t have cost more than £50-60.I pointed out that having know idea how much it should cost, if he`d asked my for £300 I would have paid it. They are no longer going to recommend them to their clients.
