What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hi all

Many of you may know me (TEIN) by my blogging on the trials and tribulations of my life right now which as a MASSIVE UNDERSTATMENT is the worst its ever been.

However, as crap as it may be I''m still aware that there are many others worse off than myself.

For instance I know a family who''s son Alfie was diagnosed with suffering from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (MD) the worst kind of MD there is. This will likely result in him being wheelchair bound by the age of 10 and dead by the time he''s 20.

On top of this Alfie also suffers from ADHD and recently his younger brother Arthur age 2 was also diagnosed with the same disease. How there loving parents cope I don''t know, but I have nothing but admiration for them and at times assume they probably are not coping without the help and support of family and friends.

To do my little bit I''m going to attempt my first marathon (well done Davycroc on London) but not an easy flat one like London (sorry Davy) but a tough gruelling hilly one around Lake Windermere in Cumbria.

So if anyone out there has any spare cash (lol) and wishes to sponsor me pls PM me and I will send you the link as I guess I can''t put my real name on the site.

Here''s hoping for a brighter future for all of us.

You''re doing two marathons at the moment, a physical one and an emotional one and I guess the physical one is the easiest!

You''re right about counting our blessings when we hear of people who are dealing with the heartache of children and loved ones struck down by illness.

I will certainly sponsor you, so please PM the details.

Thanks Mitchum, with everything going on my training has been disrupted so much lately that it''s going to be a real struggle to do 26.2 miles but I''ll get there by hook or by crook.

As for the emotional marathon, that, as you state, is a whole different ball game and one I can''t train for, have no experience in and no idea what''s around the next bend!

4 days to go until I run my 1st Marathon for charity.

My online giving page for anyone wishing to sponsor me (PM me for the link) will be open for a month after I hopefully complete the course on Sunday in a world record time (for me).

The cause I''m running for is muscular dystrophy.

Thanks TEIN
