What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hello all
Thanks to all of the messages I have received on here. You all (and you know who you are) have managed to carry me today and I feel so much better.

I've been to see my doctor and he has help a great deal. To know I have support will help me ride this storm.

I had a reply from my email to me Husband sent last night. He did not reply himeself, but his solicitor did and his sol said 'my client does not accept any of your proposals' blah, blah, blah. I have been to see another solicitor today and they have registered a charge on land regisrty for MH and they ahve written to my H and his sol today. I did say could they post the letters tomorrow as I wouldn't like to receive a letter from solicitor on Valentines day, but then my Solicitor said the email I recd from his sol today will be sent my post to, so I will in fact have a message from him on val day, so I agreed for my sol to send it.

Anyway. I am meeting with a girlfriend this evening. Have locked myself away for 6 weeks now since my H left and my brother told me I was going out and he would babysit. So, I'm out for a glass of wine with a friend. So I will have to make myself look pretty tonight.

I feel so much better than the point I was at last night and this morning and I couldn't have done all the steps I have made today without you all.

So, my valentine message to you all is... thank you all for your gift of support, although my valentines day will be very hard tomorrow I will remember that my 'cyber friends' have helped me make it easier.

All the best all of you.
