What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hi all,

Thought I would pop up a quick thread to say hi - the whole sorry story of what leads me here is in a blog that I posted this morning -

www.wikivorce.com/divorce/Divorce-Blogs/...pent-at-leisure.html (hope that works!)

So - hi. Hoping to be able to use this place for advice and support (getting and giving!). Feeling very positive today, but it''s always two steps forward and one back with this caper.

There are some really sad stories on the blogs and in the forums. It''s amazing how many marriages that started so full of hope end up in such bitterness, mine included.

Anyway, see you around
