What are we each entitled to in our divorce settlement?

What does the law say about how to split the house, how to share pensions and other assets, and how much maintenance is payable.

What steps can we take to reach a fair agreement?

The four basic steps to reaching an agreement on divorce finances are: disclosure, getting advice, negotiating and implementing a Consent Order.

What is a Consent Order and why do we need one?

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that finalises a divorcing couple's agreement on property, pensions and other assets.

Hi all,
Just wanted to introduce myself as joined yesterday and guess Im going to be spending a fair bit of time with you all! Been separated for a couple of months after 15 yr marriage with 14 yr old son..no choice but to move out of MH as STBX must have been having boxing lessons!!
Delightful STBX remembered Valentines Day, bless her, and manipulated filing of divorce papers with court and letter from solicitor citing UB so that they both came through the door on Thursday the 14th!
Maybe sometimes you have to smile, at least I got something other than bills through my door (well my parents door as paying bills for MH to keep son happy means I dont have enough cash for anything else).
Spke to solicitor who told me I didnt need to pay bills but tugging at heart strings..any advice please...STBX has full time reasonable job but her salary will only cover mortgage. Obviously dont want bailiffs taking away my lads assets.
